photoblog image Happy Shiny.

Happy Shiny.

Now for those of you out there who know Manchester, this is part of the new 'regenerated' bit behind ILVA, more tosh to buy from Scandanavia thats too expensive for IKEA. Deep in the heart of 'New Islington'..jeepers I wonder how many times they ran that up the flagpole......or Ancoats as us locals know and love, bijou apartments, canal path theme parks and more bars than Strageways Prison....also it retains the old charms of Manchester by having a large amount of 'working ladies' plying their trade, just take my word for it. So anyway this is Tariff St and these new shiny chromy Ps arrived out of the blue so I thought it might be impolite not to capture them for posterity.

Uk Flckr meet........

I remember Ancoats from when it was real and I a humble apprentice at the BT training school in an area that I can't remember the name of. Mike Harding also used to sing about the area as well.

The image has a nice clean crisp shiny feel to it, looks good against the blue sky, impossible not to photograph I suppose, well seen.
David Johnson: This car park has been up for what seems like an age, well probably 6 months but these ultra chromy signs set it all off. There is nothing really left of old Ancoats now, Mills are apartments and the hospital is also being ripped down.

nice persepctive
David Johnson: In Manchester these days you can just lean back and blat away, its all heading upwards.
Yes, delightfully glitzy clean. Needs some pidgeon poo and graffitti to provide that distinctive Manchurian patina. Hmmm Max Black for enquiries on ''working ladies''...I'll make sure you're entered in the Yellow pages.
Oh! ... a dazzling shot BTW. richard.
David Johnson: Think there has been some sort of cull going on with the Pigeons as there seem to be less each month......you probably can't see on this but those slats are filling up nicely with all the regeneration gunge thats wafting around and no need for the Yellow pages just check out the local phone boxes for 'Fleur de Lis" ...anything that your heart desires......
Very cool image. I really like the angle of this hot.

Who would have thought it was in Ancoats?!!
David Johnson: For Ancoats just change it to 'New Islington'.......yeh...tumbleweed rolling across.......the Observer Property guide says this is the place to buy at the moment....but somehow they never show the social housing that butts up to this area.

A very photogenic building well captured - nowt wrong with this one lad. ;o)
David Johnson: I thought it was scrummy too, so much so that I went back and did some more....which was sad....

I love this capture! I've not been to Manchester yet but hope to visit in a few months... doesn't sound like you recommend it much, though smile
David Johnson: Oh don't get me wrong, some of the things they are doing/ have done are amazing...its just sometimes they replace some of the soul of a city with faceless 'could be anywhere' glass and steel blocks

Fantastic image, David - without doubt, you're the best person on SC who can transform the everyday into a wonderful shot.
David Johnson: Its just an illusion, these are all fantastic bits of urbanity that I feed through Photoshop and that brings them down to a normal level.....yeh...actually whatyou've said probably sums up how I try and look at Manchester and for that I thank you, the best comment Ive ever had!
