photoblog image Beetham 1

Beetham 1

On one of the manchester groups I contribute too someone said there were far too many images of the Beetham Tower on show.......well just to show what too many images looks like, I went for a ramble around this fair cities crusty bits to see how many different views I could get, so apologies in advance for the next lot of images, for they will feature some bit of this glass block...somewhere.....

After the rip snorting fun of Speak like a Pirate day the other week, I thought the balance could be redressed by International Speak like Alvar Lidell day, click this to practice   http://www.bbc.co.uk/schoolradio/history/worldwar2audioclipslibrary_clip18.shtml and click the audio clip. Comments in your best BBC accents, full evening dress to be worn at all times....brylcreem optional.

Here are some I made earlier   http://maxblack.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Lesser_known_sister...../

Cracking image, David, really like the bloke stood there staring at you!! And bring on loads of images of this tower if they are as good as this one!!
David Johnson: Just going to subject y'all to a couple more as it might be deemed visual cruelty if I persisted, you can pop across to my Flickr site as I have plonked them all in one place, link tomorrow. Ta fer the comment......
Nice constrast between the old and the new. Looking forward to seeing some more.
David Johnson: Just a few more and I'll leave the bulk over on flickr.....thanks for calling by Bernie
Contrasts between ancient and modern? Could write a page of A4 single spaced on the two buildings. T' chimney 'as far more character ... or are feelings of nostalgia creating emotional bias within me? ...'eck I can feel the need for the tissue box. Nahh! pull yourself together Trim ... nowt wrong with neat and tidy modernism.
richard.
David Johnson: Windowlene makes a sudden intervention tomorrow so I've no idea what you'll make of it!! At least the chimley is being refurbished, part of some big contemporary bijou thing they've done to the mill beneath Jux'ta position as my old Art teacher used to say..

Trouble at t' Beetham Tower just doesn't trip off the tongue does it? Good contrast - nice builders and a fantastic use of clear lego bricks in the background. Were you in a microlite?
David Johnson: Tut Slab o' Glass could work! Usual dose of caffeine and Sudafed gets me floating most days, I thank you!!!!

The Beetham Tower doesn't do much for me, but the steeplejack in the foreground is just great, wouldn't get me up there but I suppose someone has to do it. Hope they pay him well.
David Johnson: You think they could have sculpted a wee bit more.... er"character" into the ol SOG.....it cost enough!
I've always felt a day in Manchester is punishment. Still seems you can get some good photographs though!
David Johnson: Oi!....its not like being sent to the colonies....some of us made a decision to live here.....need some sweeties now...
