photoblog image Austerlands, Oldham.

Austerlands, Oldham.

All right I'm going to run with this tonemapping for a while and see where it ends up! Usual 5 ACR from RAW then stuck through the Photomatix grinder and minimal tickle in Pshop

Ah Oldham, the 2 previous images are from the latest walks, Water, scenery, s'quite nice and a warm cosy feel of safety. Now this is Austerlands out in the badlands of Oldham where the ethical recovery of CFCs dosn't seem to be happening! Bit cheesed off as there is a pile of kernackered old diggers just behind this and I was too creaky to clamber over to them! Here is a link to something I found in Austerlands that I find extremely offensive    http://www.flickr.com/photos/maxblack/2038619852/

Away with the poorly relatives again this weekend so have a good one...er. thought I'd never say this..."Come on Scotland"......

Part of the fridge mountain then. Looks like you have Tonemapping boxed off Max, plenty of detail in there and a good finish to it.
David Johnson: Bit too early to be thinking Ive got this tone mapping sorted although its easier than I thought, think I need to hunt about for some tips and wrikles!
I find sites like this on my walks too. I hate it!
David Johnson: Yes you think this stuff could be dumped in the grotty bits and not where the scenery is nice!

This is serious fly tipping David!!!
Why people just car'nt take the rubbish to the tip is beyond me.

Have a good weekend.
David Johnson: Gorton is where fly tipping becomes competetive, just shocking today, piles of all kinds of stuff everywhere,
What a contrast in subjects! However, you still manage to make a pile of rubbish look rather beautiful. I actually think the light in this one is cleansing this rather depressing scene. (:o)
David Johnson: Why thanks Ros, was in 2 minds to go B/W or stay colour with this! BW looked like typical urban grittiness but as you stay the colour kind of softens and distracts.
I absolutely detest fly tipping - we are about 5 miles from the tip, but have a convenient layby at the top end of the field. Tip closed - no problemo, over it goes. Nothing quite as bad as this granted, but ditressing all the same.

Did follow your link - very worrying!

Enjoy your week end.
David Johnson: Back from Gorton today, the home of flytipping, used to be a council tip about 15 yers ago which is now quite a nice park, but I think people still come out of habit then chuck their stuff about!!People eh!Good weekend playing with my in laws mega garden implements, arf....

what is this tone mapping david, what ever it is it looks good.
David Johnson: You're asking me???Go to Photomatix and download the freebie, I just do 3 or 5 exposures from a RAW file with ev steps of 1 or 2 and crank em through and see what happens!

Easy to over-work HDR, this looks very natural David. smile What settings were you using please?
David Johnson: Settings...there are settings???? Look I'm just a fumbling and a bumbling through the early stages of this but I think the trick is not to oversturate, too many of the gaudy stuff out there, any way just a sight move of the white point and a touch of micro smoothing of the highlights and I think the rest was just default setings.
An interesting treatment - have only tried HDR a couple of times but this looks good. Disturbing subject matter as was your link.

David Johnson: I see too much of this and quite a lot of the other hidden around the grim bits of Manchester,it will only get worse I think!
This sort of thing is everywhere. Can you imagine what will happen if the quarter wits who run this country try "pay as you throw" Fly tipping will reach epidemic proportions.

I clicked on your link. Beneath contempt people who do this sort of thing.
David Johnson: Just got back from Gorton, one of the less clebrated areas of manchester and found some of the biggest fly tips even Ive seen, Yeh there will be a deluge when the charges hit!
Hi Bill - great shot and strong colours - trouble is, looking at this one makes me feel one of 2 ways - depressd (cos of all the rubbish we generate) or angry (because of all the rubbish we generate). ARRRGGGHHHH!!
David Johnson: Who'se this Bill charcter anyway?????I thought the Chinese hoovered all this stuff up anyway, probably a few bobs worth lying about here
