photoblog image Another Place.

Another Place.

Well I didn't set off to come here but meandered back from a farmers market at me old mate Sallys place at Rufford Craft centre, took in all the sights that the West Coast could chuck at us, had one of those 'Ooer where's me camera moments' as the car in fronts bikes all fell off the bike rack...ouch....Mrs J said put it away.....ended up here so it would have been rude not to go and make some kind of formal introduction. I've loaded this as a large file over on flickr, if you feel like printing one theres a link to Macmillan nurses if you feel like a donation...crazy eh!

You've done Ant justice here. There are many shots of these sculptures, but this is a cracker!
David Johnson: Thank God for Fujis and Photomatix!

Just can't help taking their pictures can you, you have caught this one with his pile sticking out of the water, don't see that very often. Great sky as well.
David Johnson: Thanks Les, I think I might skip past the Piles joke for this one....
The sky and lighting is amazing, looks like the tide goes out a fair way.
David Johnson: Yeh big Estuary here Will, some of these fellas were about another 100m further out, but just covered by the tide
super shot, the sky looks fantasticsmile
David Johnson: One of those extra nippy windy days that gives you this type of sky

Nice one, I thought someone said that these had been removed? Obviously not thoughwink
David Johnson: No they stumped up the cash and he was supposed to be producing a new set to go on the World Tour.

mm..
HDR? ;-) I like it very much.
David Johnson: 3 files of 2EV difference straight from a RAW into Photomatix and then a straight tonemap and into Photoshop for some destructive hue/sat work on the sky.
I don't know what it looks like to the left and to the right but I think not having him dead center would be good.

I love the sky in this.
David Johnson: Ah David I only take one shot and if the compo is off then I should have concentrated harder, I did it from this viewpoint to get a feeling of depth running back to the channel marker on the right and so the statue would be 'looking' towards the Wind farm out at sea, could have dome with 2mm less on the lens but not to worry.

One of the best pictures I've seen of this. Really must go and see it for real one day!
David Johnson: Ay worth a trip but get the weather report, this is the Irish sea/Mersey and it can be a bit rough!!!!
Love it! Love Gormley`s work, love this photograph. The textures on the sand, the ripples on the water and the staggering sky, are a fitting backdrop. (:o)
David Johnson: Lawks, easy on that praise or I might have to widen the door frames.....again!!!! Just timed it right again weather wise, which was all down to luck and pure chance.

David Johnson: Getting amazingly crusty, couldn't see what the others were like as the tide was covering them

I had a moment like that a van’s turbo went on the motorway and white clouds poured out of the exhaust, I could not get my camera ready in time as I was driving. Is the statue looking at the wind mills and saying what an eye sore? Lovely photo good work.
David Johnson: Can't say much as the missus is a big Windmill fan!!!Ta for calling by and having a look.
