Very nice David, I wish I had a pound for every time I've walked past this marker.
David Johnson: You're a lucky man if you get to go along the coast on a rgular basis

Quite dramatic! Is this art or a channel marker?
David Johnson: Just a bog standard Channel/Radar marker
Splendid light David !
David Johnson: Ta Florence, felt I neede to tone down things and tried for a more 'glassy' feel to the water.

great shot...what is that marker for...is it a "dont go here" for ships?
David Johnson: Absolutely, some mighty big things flopping about at sea around these parts, the last thing you need is for them to go crashing into the Anthony Gormley statues on the beach.
Gorgeous light! Another stunning photograph. (:o)
David Johnson: Cheers Ros, think you might need your sunglasses for tomorrow....

I love the effect of the water and the atmosphere ... Well done !!! I put it in my likeys ...
David Johnson: In your likeys...hey nice one!
Great light and texture. I love it
love the light and the colours in the water, which looks unreal, well done Davidsmile
David Johnson: Deliberately 'glassed' up the foreground water to get that effect.
Beautiful simplicity.
David Johnson: Why thank you and will you invest in or get santa to get you some thermals!

fantastic lighting and composition. I can begin to see a signature PP style.. very chromasia like (intended as praise!)

That said, it does look a smidge soft on my screen. some might say the rule of thirds broken here.. but rules such as these should be bent me thinks!
David Johnson: Ha they're only rules and not laws! Everything I do is(or should be) full frame in camera composition, wysiwyg! Give architectural things a tug and a pull but if its 'off' somehow, well thats the way I saw it and thats the way it'll get stuck on here! Think that makes some sense!!!

... and if you'd stayed there too long you'd have been up to your neck in water!

How much of this thing gets covered by the tide?

And, nearly forgot, Liked the look of the thumbnail so opened to get a closer look - and I'm glad I did smile
David Johnson: About 2/3rds of the way up if the barnacles are a guide!
Hi David,

I've just discovered your photoblog today which is a bit ironic considering how close we are geographically and that I also post photos of the local area.

I know it makes me seem old but 'when a were a kid' we used to swim out from the shore at high tide to that marker (before the sea wall was built)smile

There's no way I'd do that now even though the sea is a lot cleaner now than it was then!

Keep up the fantastic standard of photos that you're posting - they are wonderful!

Regards,

Ian
