I know him well David, well caught and thanks for not stepping on our pansies.

I have always fought shy of photographing this as I could never see a decent angle but you have given me hope that I may follow in your footsteps one day.
David Johnson: Just make sure you don't mistake my footsteps as the ones that squashed the pansies....

I thought this was a real swan, youve made something out not nothing.
David Johnson: Didn't have the time to geta wide shot of these swans on the roundabout...had that feel of th zoo on the roundabout from Royston Vasey!
Like Nig I thought it was a real one. Welle done

Like the conversion, it gives it more feeling.
Glad the pansies are still intactsmile
David Johnson: Couldn't trample flowers, not even for a killer shot!

great angle David, for me you have made something interesting out of something i wouldn't normally look twice at well donesmile
David Johnson: I could spend ages on Southport prom...its full of wacky stuff...this was snapped quickly as I tried to reassure the missus that I hadn't forgotten where I parked the car!

I think this probably works far better in mono than it would have done in colour. I like the angle and the way you've included the lamp post
David Johnson: Yes it was far too blue and jolly, bit of that December sun that I can just about remember, the angle was more of a necessity in the avoidance of standing on the regimented pansies.

He looks rather evil close up. The unusual perspective gives it an edgy feeling - straight out of some surrealist dream.

David Johnson: Blooming big as well, make a nasty dent in your car if you were swerving through the flowerbeds...must get back to Southport as it looks like a gold mine for the odd and absurd.

Glad the pansies survived - I too thought this was a real swan from the thumbnail. Wondered if you were lying in Heaton Park boating lake and had pressed the shutter whilst being savaged!
David Johnson: I parked myself on your stuff yesterday but there were far too many comments again!!!!! Stick some crap on and be like the rest of us! Just another from the rainy day pile, in Marple on friday so expect lots of canal based tosh over the coming weeks
Great photograph, David. I am not drawn to the swan for its beauty, though. It`s kind of threatening, don`t you think? Well, I`m guessing you do, because the black and white conversion has added to the `darkness` of the atmosphere. (:o)
David Johnson: Out of place and out of time on the all new shiny twirly Southport prom...pleasantly odd!

It's a highly original shot David. Swans at the seaside makes me think of Dawlish
David Johnson: Whats that big sanctuary in Dorset...draggged the ankle biters around it about 10 years ago!!!!

David Johnson: Easy on the cheese boy, I speak from experience!
