Giving the ND8 its first serious workout, mind you no tripod as usual so hand held clamped to a rock, big breath in , click and hold!

that's a cracker David! the movement of the water set against the static landscape really works big time. mal
David Johnson: Oh master of the long exposure, thank you. Maybe I should get my brain into gear and take a tripod along with me...dur...
Very interesting David. I have just changed to a SLR from a compact and need to get some ND filters. What do you suggest?
David Johnson: Well if you are going to get one get a big one, theres a link here to explain things http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neutral_density_filter
8 should be a minimum I think
Great shot! love the long shutter speed.
David Johnson: Should have taken a tripod but was all kited up for a walk so no room, handy pile of rocks though!
Could be a river of ice, very effective technique Maxy.
David Johnson: Don't know why I didn't get an ND before, not much off ebay.
Just lovely. I love it!
David Johnson: Thanks Richard, angle meant I couldn't 'see' what I was taking.

Beautiful effect of water !!!
David Johnson: The sound of it was even better
Very effective David and well done if it was hand held for 6 seconds.
David Johnson: Thank god for lumps of Limestone!
Excellent David - a great sense of movement.
David Johnson: This will be my weapon of choice if I ever get to the sea side soon

This is lovely, especially for a Pin Hole camera smile
David Johnson: Ha, knew someone would be taking a close intrest!
Bet your finger was frozen after the six seconds ... you've turned the river into ice. richard
David Johnson: I'd like to say that the extremeties were numb but after hitting 10 miles I was all a rosy glow, it was either the exercise or I'm going through the change again!!

Love the contrast between the liquidity of the water and the frosty hard landscape. The water almost looks like some sort of moving beast rushing headlong downstream.

David Johnson: Really odd what long exposures do, think I need to do some experimentation, may do some city centre stuff and see what it does on human movement patterns.....

Dont you moan about it. I cant get a shot this good with 3 tripods all together.lol. this is a great shot. the water looks thick somehow like clear jelly. no I am not mad, I just think of food all day.lol. great work.
David Johnson: Every one needs a hobby, have become an expert at bracing myself against posts, walls and rocks, I have tripod aversion but am receiving therapy for it. Hey had the tripod out doing sunsets last night so the therapy must be working....result!

Full of contrasts David, love the effect produced by the ling exposure, I've just got to get one of these ND filters.
David Johnson: Worth it to have in your bag, got a big one with some step rings for that bit of flexibiltiy
Here's to Ebay! Maybe it'll soon be nationalised to support the flagging overpriced high-stret retail structure...great shot with a reasonably priced ND8! smile
David Johnson: I love ebay, thats where all my old crap goes and money pops out the other end, a quite marvellous system, especially in these straightened times!!!
