Mappleton.
Every time Ive been out recently I seem to have been blessed with grey flat light, well made the most of it by sticking on the ND8 and yes, using a tripod again( I hate the damned things) on the chilly soggy East coast.

The shot from the textbook, dave. So well balanced.
David Johnson: Trek out to the East coast and Mother nature slings a great slab of Grey nothingness at me, stopped here as I was lost in the gloom.
great atmosphere. Beautiful. Hope the weather warms up.
David Johnson: Ha, have you seen this weekends weather prediction!
You should get over your tripod aversion and generate more shots like this one!
David Johnson: Waiting for one of those gorillapods to turn up so will be a good compromise for me, its just that I usually shoot one shot then I'm off and blooming awkward leggy tripods slow me down....starting to rant.........
It was worth the effort! This is a wonderful shot. You really have come up with something special in difficult conditions. (:o)
David Johnson: Thank God for the ND8, the whole series of shots were saved by it,
You certainly wouldn't have been able to do this one without a tripod - love the misty effect and the balanced composition. I also don't like using a tripod - nasty, cumbersome things - by the time you have them all set up, the light has usually changed or the moment passed! But they are necessary sometimes.
Ingrid
David Johnson: With you on the tripod thing...although I'm waiting for one of those gorillapods to turn up, which for me will be a good compromise, after all Ive got the ND filters now so I will have to use something, can't keep bracing myself against lamposts......
The tripod was certainly worth the effort! Beautiful job.
David Johnson: Yep, a necessary evil.
cool. mal
David Johnson: Cheers mate.
This is just how I imagiane the East Coast in winter David. This has a really cold feel to it yet the misty water adds a mysterious atmosphere.
David Johnson: Bone numbing is probably the best way to describe it, I was actually knocked off my feet on the banks of the Humber later on that day, ta for the comment.
I keep thinking I should use the tripod more...I also think I must get me an ND filter or two. This is very good David
David Johnson: Unfotunately Nds usually mean getting one of those damned tripods, unless you have one of those bean bag camera pod thingys.
Stop winging about grey days Dave .. you know you like the challenge to produce something special from them ;-) richard
David Johnson: Ha...every time the kit gets chucked in the car the clouds flop over....so this weekend the camera will be mostly in the car....you've been warned....
super shot David, grey day turned into a beautiful image, wonderful effort
David Johnson: If the light had been better I would have snapped the 'soil' based cliffs behind...very odd.....looks like one good spring tide would flush them away.
Really cool shot. Nice one
David Johnson: Thanks.
Like it David...flat light or not!
David Johnson: There's me grinding my teeth because I couldn't squeeze any tonality into the sky
It may have been a grey day but you managed to pull something out of the hat David. looks good to me.
David Johnson: Yes Les , a straight shot really would have been 'king awful, and deadly dull.
You can winge as much as you want to, as long as you keep producing quality pics like this
David Johnson: Dear God it was so king cold, I lived in Blackpool for umpty tumpt years so I know all about 'coastal breeze'but this was...er....bad!
